[new] Effort and effect? (Avg. Score: none / Raters: 0) (#8)

As much as I enjoyed reading this again, there was something slightly odd about it - almost a feeling of nostalgia, for lack of a better word. So much energy and creativity poured into all the protests against the ÖVP/FPÖ coalition, huge waves of activity constantly crossing over my computer screen (I wasn't anywhere near the street, I spent all the time frantically trying to translate as many statements of protest as possible to reach people outside Austria) - but in the end, it wasn't the protests that caused the coalition to collapse, was it?

Aside from the practical experience gained in the use of various media for organizing, what did all that activity actually achieve? Or is it really necessary to achieve concrete results with protests and demonstrations? Maybe the networking itself is enough?
