Is the general condition and direction of society in th US and Europe in a state that can qualified as globally satisfactory - in terms of rights, distribution of wealth, culture, etc.? The corporate vision of society is rosy - after all they see free enterprise as the key to developing the world and prosperity. They reply to criticism as saying "of course there are abuses, of course Enron are naughty boys, but good governance and Mr Bush's incredible optimism are going to cure all that".

(as an aside - I used to believe that modernity is fundamentally positive and solves in itself the social and economic problems of previous times. After all, how can it be wrong with everyone getting fridges and dish washers? Oppression cannot exist in a society where most acts of cleansing have been mechanised, taking out the back ache of manual labour...)

And yet it is not so, if one takes the left's counter argument to the first paragraph - it is to say that corporatism is causing unprecedented social regression. Which is personally my opinion.

In this situation, Agitprop is not a cultural gadget, but an essential means to communicate with the public about the rising conflict in society. Should one talk about the need to call for revolution???
