hmm, well a realistic answer would probably be a keyboard or a laptop pc. but an answer that makes more sense in this context would probably be an email program, chat app, or a web browser. the first two are like the telephone - the presence of friends and acquaintances... the last is like a TV - the presence of the "world", the fact that the world is alive and keeps updating (do you keep your browser on a newspaper's site that refreshes frequently? i do.)

to be honest, i'd just put a pillow, my cat, and some beach sand in those bottles. woops, sorry about the mess in here - i won't try to stuff my cat in there again....
