Discordia seems fun. The rating part still has me a bit baffled. The site seems open to participation on so many levels, from erudite essays to wry comments to fyi's, that a rating system is hard to know what to do with. A quick look at the number of ratings vs the number of postings suggests that most participants aren't using this feature. Any thoughts?

yeah, scale really intrigues me, geert. whereas i think mailing lists don't scale well upwards (too much mail inundating you, and you can't keep up) - community weblogs i think don't scale downward all that well. since right now, we just have a few inaugural discordants, it doesn't really work as a microcosm of the larger picture (which will have a larger voting/posting/etc. base.) it will be interesting to watch the character of discordia change after we "go public" in june.
