[new] rebellion toggling (Avg. Score: none / Raters: 0) (#3)

This article on riot grrrl herstory puts an interesting spin on things. in the section titled "influences", the author implies that punk rock rebel boys only come off as caricatures of boy stereotypes, whereas punk rock rebel girls shake up stereotypes. The implication here is that, if you toggle people between rebellious and obedient, you'll find that girls' polar states are very different, whereas boys' polar states aren't that different. So in other words, whether culture is currently Stepfordized or not, whether boys are being obedient or rebellious, it might be hard to notice the difference... whereas with girls, there's a big difference.

Ok, I've extrapolated all over the place, but it's late, and 90's punk rockers somehow seem to shed some significant light on cultural Stepfordization at the moment.
