Going off-line for 10 years is an interesting idea, but I am curious as to what you would expect from that. Do you mean to just give up email or no Internet connection - what modes of communication would you still be willing to use?
For many years I refused to have a telephone. Other people found it inconvenient, but I was quite happy with the situation. I think I could still live quite happily without a telephone; I find e-mail a much more satisfactory means of communication.
