[new] "Security" = total communication breakdo (Avg. Score: 2.00 / Raters: 1) (#1)

It appears that "filtering" in the interests of security is going haywire. Since viruses are spread through attachments, more and more often lately I am encountering the problem that some versions of Outlook simply strip attachments from other mail programs (e.g. Pine, which I have used for nine years and want to continue using, because I don't want to use a mail program that requires a GUI).
Since spammers use fake e-mail addresses, suddenly some providers are not letting my e-mail through ("access denied"), because my e-mail address does not match the domain name of the server I am sending it from (that was not easy to achieve, but that is the way I want it).
I also know some baroque musicians who would like to keep the word "sextet" in their name (because there are six people in the band) without having their website blocked for people accessing the Internet from universities and libraries (where people who like baroque music are likely to have Internet access).
How does making communication more complicated equal security?
Three cheers for subversive librarians!
