[new] so-called real life and relationships (Avg. Score: none / Raters: 0) (#3)

As I was reading your comment this morning about the parallels between the boys' inconsiderate treatment of people both in real life and on line, an article was forwarded to me originally from The Boston Globe about the Republican party infiltrating the Democratic party computers ("Infiltration of files seen as extensive". What I found particularly striking was the reasoning of the staff member suspected of passing on confidential documents: "He also argued that the only wrongdoing was on the part of the Democrats -- both for the content of their memos, and for their negligence in placing them where they could be seen." Why should teenagers show any more respect and consideration for people than people in positions of responsibility? Anything you can get away with, you can do. Some time ago I wrote a letter to the editor in a national newspaper here, stating why I think Wolfgang Schüssel, the Federal Chancelor of Austria, is setting a bad example for my children with the way he deals with "truth". I was seriously annoyed by the way it was shortened, but at least they printed it.

To return to your original question, though, given the general noise level of everyday life with "telephone performances" going on in every setting in addition to all the other noise, disjointed communications interrupted by different signals, and the strain of trying to maintain presence in multiple locations at least most of the time: What kinds of relationships might be possible? Is "falling in love" one more form of distraction among many other choices? What could people - especially young people - be looking for from one another?
