[new] Interconnected community behavior = Magic (Avg. Score: 2.00 / Raters: 1) (#2)

The notion of "building a community" has been used to create wealth, in the form of hip tools such as good old ICQ. That does not mean it should be discarded all together.

Hip tools are now concentrating on interconnectedness and new forms of expression. Such as: Sharing a blog at livejournal; Sharing friends at friendster; Sharing your physical location at upmystreet and so on.

Interconnectedness and overlapping of realities and means of expression are great notions. A hive mind, my favorite key word, is about the way a complex behavior arises from simple separated decisions. When applied to the net, it opens a way for new notions of management, such as the way an essay is voted in or out of existence in Discordia. It is all about community behavior. And to me it's all about magic: You would never find the hive mind in the bee. A pack of ants share a memory span that is longer than the life of a single ant. A different kind of sharing and a different kind of consciousness arises that is larger than me and you.

"Means for a community" in this respect is the tools and notions taken to enable networking of all kinds and sorts.
