Why I love the power of New Technology
I have been fascinated by what technology can do for advancing ideas and thoughts. In 1988 I was involved in a project to train Palestinians in using small format cameras to film their own lives.

Filtered through a concern about which voices may be heard
As much as I enjoyed and appreciated Trebor's review and Brian's response, when I think of people I know, whose work I respect and admire, work that is important to me in between and around art and activism, I feel some concern that their voices could be overheard among so many words, because they use other means of expression.

As described in the FAQ, the different sections are intended to "promote a certain kind of discussion, a specific style of communication and exchange", rather than organizing postings on the basis of content. That's the idea. How well does it work in practice?
